Brad Fittler was earmarked for Rugby League greatness at an early age. A phenomenon in the junior ranks, Fittler started his first grade career in 1989 with the Penrith Panthers. With a trademark sidestep, Fittler quickly became one of the most exciting attacking players in the Game.
A year after making his debut for the Panthers, Fittler became the youngest Origin player in history (up to that time)and the youngest to be chosen for a Kangaroo tour. It was during Origin camp that Fittler was christened with the name "Freddy". In 1990, he played in Penrith's Grand Final loss to Canberra, but he didn't have to wait long for revenge, tasting premiership glory the following year. Fittler remained at the Panthers until 1995 and the following year, he made the move to the Eastern Suburbs, joining the Roosters on what was then he richest contract in League history. The money was well spent, with Fittler leading the Roosters to victory in the 2002 Grand Final over the Warriors - the club's first premiership in more than a quarter of a century.
Freddy retired at the end of 2004 following the Roosters' defeat by the Bulldogs in that year's decider.
