He has long been regarded as one of the best in the world, and at times, he has been the very top of the pile. Brisbane and Queensland great Darren Lockyer has done it all in a first-grade career spanning 14 years and counting. Leading his country, state and team to victory on the biggest of stages, Lockyer holds the record for the most games and the most points for the Broncos. His long list of awards inludes the Clive Churchill Medal and he's a two-time winner of the Golden Boot for the world's best player. Lockyer was the Bronco's Rookie of the Year in 1995 and has been a permanent fixture in the side since starting his career as fullback, and reaching the highest levels in the Game in that position, Lockyer's move to five-eighth in 2004 only enhanced his position as one of the code's greats. With the retirement of Gordon Tallis in 2005, Lockyer assumed the captain's mantle at the Broncos.
Throughout his career Lockyer's awards and milestones have been numerous. His Clive Churchill Medal came in the 2000 Grand Final against the Roosters. He has won a number of Dally M five-eighth of the year awards and has won four premierships with the Broncos (1997, 1998, 2000, 2006).
