300 Club - Hazem El Masri

DOB: 1 April 1976

Played 314 games (1996-2009)

The fact that more than 40,000 fans turned out at ANZ Stadium last Sunday to pay tribute to the greatest point-scorer in NRL history is testament to the popularity and respect of Hazem El Masri.
Known more for his phenomenally consistent goalkicking than his other feats on the Rugby League field, El Masri will also go down in the Game's annals as a fantastic try-scorer and finisher.
The Bulldogs' Rookie of the Year in 1997, El Masri has gone on to break all sorts of records for the blue & whites. In 2004, he claimed the NRL point-scoring record for a single season with 342 (16 tries, 139 goals). In 2005 he surpassed Daryl Halligan for the club career points record at the Bulldogs. The following year, El Masri amassed the most points in a single game for the club (34 points against Wests Tigers). But perhaps his greatest record came in Round 1 this year against Manly, when he claimed the all-time NRL point-scoring record, with a relatively easy goal kick taking him to 2208 points. Such was his confidence at making the milestone kick, El Masri raised his arms in triumph before striking the ball.
He will be remembered as a champion off the field as well.
