Auckland centre came to Canberra in 1992 after representing the Junior Kiwis and NZ Maoris. Wiki's form as Mal Meninga's centre partner in 1994 made him one of the hottest properties in the game. Following a confident display in Canberra's thrasing of Canterbury in the Grand Final, Wiki was chosen to tour PNG with the NZ side. A sporadic visitor to the NZ Test team, Wiki moved into the forwards in his later career, representing the Kiwis in the 2000 World Cup. In 2002, he captained his country in two Tests against Australia. In 2002 and 2003 Wiki was named the Canberra Raiders' Player of the Year. At the end of 2004, he left Canberra to see out his career with the Warriors. In 2005 he led NZ in their historic Tri-Nations win against Australia but announced his international retirement after NZ were beaten in extra time in the 2006 Tri-Nations final. He was the first player to receive 50 Test caps for NZ and went on to play 55 Tests. In 2006, he was named in a Kiwi All Time XIII at a dinner celebrating New Zealand's centenary of Rugby League. Wiki was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2007 for his services to Rugby League.
