300 Club - Steve Menzies

DOB: 4 December 1973

Played 349 games (1993-2008)

Steve "Beaver" Menzies became a Manly legend with electric performances in the second-row but the Sea-Eagles utility could play just about any position on the park.
His ability to split defensive lines made him a constant danger for opposition whether he played in the centres - where he began his career - or as a forward.
In 2004, he passed Frank Burge to become the greatest try-scoring forward in the history of the Game. The grandson of pioneer Manly clubman "Mackie" Campbell scored plenty more in the years to come.
After a breakthrough season in 1994 when he scored 16 tries, Menzies was the leading tryscorer in 1995, crossing the try line 22 times. It was no surprise when Menzies was named the Dally M Second-Rower of the Year.
During 1995 he was selected for NSW and the Kangaroos where he scored nine tries in 11 appearances in Tests against England. Other accolades including representing NSW in 20 State of Origin games.
He played his entire career with Manly (and Northern Eagles) till his dream retirement in 2008, winning a Grand Final and scoring in the second half. That game also brought Menzies' first grade atlly to 349 matches - equal to the great Terry Lamb.
