An appreciation email from Sam Bonassi, to the Men of League:

It was a great surprise for mum today when the Men of League Foundation organised for John Peard and Ron Pearce to visit mum at the hospital this morning as she recently had a knee reconstruction and a knee infection, which they also presented mum with a signed jumper, training top and a cap, it was also signed by all of the current Roosters players.

Mum wasn't sure who they were when they first arrived but as soon as John “Bomber” Peard started cracking jokes about Arthur Beetson and a few others mum then clicked who they were, and then the tears started pouring out.
Mum and dad owned a corner shop in Woollahra then, Julio's Corner where in the 70’s Eastern Suburbs player would come and eat at their shop sometimes. John “Bomber” Peard, reminded mum regarding the time that her and dad put hot chilies’ in their food two days before they beat St George and John said  “when they got into a scrum, Beetson passed wind and that made the team move a lot quicker”.

I had a photo of East's Team, from those days, so John signed that as well for Mum.

I would like to thank the Men of League Foundation for turning up and making things memorable for mum, also Brian Tracey & Steve Grieg for making things possible with the East's Gear.
