Before kick-off of the Dragons vs Roosters game at the SCG yesterday, Reg Gasnier a St George legend and one of the game's seven immortals took centre stage as he was unveiled as the seventh statue in the Basil Sellers Sports Sculpture project.

 35 years ago the Eastern Suburbs Roosters defeated the St George Dragons 38-0 in the 1975 Grand Final. The name on everyone's lips that day was John Rheinberger. He'd been pulled up from under-23s at training two nights earlier when centre Mark Harris dropped out injured and was running on in first grade for the first, and as it turned out, only time in his career.

Men of League is embarking on a campaign to open a new Mid West commitee based out of Bathurst. The aim is to launch a new local committee in the city on August 7 while also going into bat for former Bathurst Railway and Penguins player Bruce “Sleepy” Smith.

Not many people have a Prime Minister at their birthday party. But Johnny Raper did.  John Howard joined 230 or so other friends and family to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Team of the Century member.All seven of John's brothers were there (Terry has passed away) plus wife Caryl, three sons - Kurt, Aaron and Stuart and their wives - Cassie, Sally and Cathy, along with his seven grandchildren and many other family members.
