Men of League have developed a new initiative that will result in a unique opportunity for all levels of the game to show support for Men of League and create increased awareness of the welfare work that the Foundation carries out to support all members of the rugby league family.
Round 5 of the 2012 NRL premiership from 30 March – 2 April will see the annual Men of League Heritage Round take place, and to celebrate all NRL and NYC match officials will wear specially created Men of League Heritage Socks, along with match officials in NSW Cup, Bundy Red Cup and Queensland Intrust Super Cup. The Gold Coast Titans will also celebrate their home game against the Bulldogs by wearing the socks in both NRL and NYC grades.
Clubs and referees associations at grassroots levels of the game are also encouraged to get on-board to support Men of League by wearing the Heritage Socks during fixtures held across this weekend. Socks can be purchased in sets of 20 for only $8 each pair, with all profits going to support Men of League benevolence and welfare programs. From late January 2012, orders for the Heritage socks can be made on-line via the Men of League website. Delivery of the socks will be finalised before the Heritage Round. The Heritage socks will be a striking combination of the Men of League colours of copper and navy blue. Sizes available will be Youth 2 – 7, Mens 7 – 11, and XL Mens 11 – 13.
We encourage clubs and referees associations who purchase the socks to support Men of League to take the opportunity to let local media outlets know about this initiative and ensure clubs and referees associations can be recognised in local communities for their charitable support. Men of League will assist in this where required.
