Image courtesy of Sunshine Coast Daily The cruise will start from Kawana, Queensland on Saturday 30 April and travel through Warwick, Inverell, Coffs Harbour, Ballina and Mermaid Beach. The event is being supported by the Australian Motorsport Enthusiasts Club Inc. (AMEC) and is a Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) sanctioned event. The event is open to members of the public who are interested in traversing some picturesque country, off the major highways in Queensland and New South Wales. Cruise organiser Dennis McGuire, stressed the event was not a car rally or a race. “Those taking part do not need motorsport or navigation experience, just a reliable vehicle, a good sense of humour and the need to have some adventure and fun with like-minded people,” Dennis said. “All roads are bitumen and in good surface condition, but are not the routes travellers would normally take.” And Mr McGuire stressed that any motor vehicle, as long as it was mechanically sound, would be suitable for the event. “There is a range of cars already committed to take part in the trek from a classic Mercedes Benz to American and Australian Muscle cars,” Dennis concluded. The cost of the cruise is $250 per vehicle, plus $100 for each person traveling in that vehicle. Breakfast each day is provided. Accommodation and other meals are not covered in the cost. All funds raised from the event will go to the Men of League Foundation.
